Established in 1980, the Scottish Press Awards are a wonderful showcase for the best journalistic talent in Scotland and, under our guidance, have flourished into a prestigious event in the industry’s calendar. Our role has been to mastermind the event each year and turn this self-financing project from a loss-making exercise pre-2004 to a profit-making industry platform.
Since 2004, we’ve orchestrated every aspect of the awards from launching to judging to the grand night itself. With the industry in decline and budgets reduced, our challenge is to keep the event fresh, exciting and relevant, year on year, encouraging as many people as possible to enter and buy tables for the night.
Effective marketing has played a significant role in our success and we target past entrants, sponsors and every single newspaper with a highly effective PR campaign highlighting past winners and, in 2016, we made increased use of social media to leverage interest and drive awareness through Twitter, e-blasts and a tailored website.
Our well-established relationship with the industry means we’ve built up fantastic connections with sponsors, SNS, editors and entrants alike and we’ve increased entries year on year with 2016 returning not only a sold-out event, but also the highest entries to date, significantly exceeding our client’s target.
